in the places where MSM (men who have sex with men) get
together/ hang out. Also offering a group for guys, Guy2Guy,
which has regular discussions, workshops,
movie nights, and social activities. |

Comprehensive HIV/STD/HCV prevention education,
risk assessment and harm reduction and skills in partner
communication to universities, colleges, high schools,
middles schools, primary schools, social service agencies,
and businesses. |

Anonymous HIV/AIDS counseling, testing
and referral (using the oral method) for those who are
at highest risk of infection (men who have sex with men,
injection drug users and women who are at risk by having
sex with the above.) |

Outright counseling and referral for gay,
lesbian, bisexual, transgendered and queer (their definition)
youth and support for local gay-straight alliances. |

The Safer Sex Club for individuals who
are developmentally challenged, providing them with HIV
prevention education, risk assessment, harm reduction,
safer sex equipment. Also provided is the important
component of discussions regarding human sexuality and
exploitation in
relationships. This program was awarded the Distinguished Volunteer Service
Award from Independence Association at their annual meeting in 2002. There
is no other program like this for this population anywhere in Maine. |

with caseworkers, housing services, medical services,
psychiatric services, etc. |

The Buddy Program Beginning in 1987, MASS
developed the award winning (2001 6Who Care Award from
Channel 6, the Maine NBC affiliate and the United Way
of Greater Portland) Buddy Program, offering a buddy
to people living with HIV/AIDS to provide an end to social
isolation, a witness to a life and a listening ear. |
